In Marley’s series of whimsical paintings, The Future is Bright, he considers how the relationship to global waste through working with found materials can be subverted through assemblage. The title is homage to globalization and the displacement of materiality in pursuit of endless growth. In each work Marley uses natural and synthetic dyed fabrics, relief prints and impressionistic painting methods to capture the whimsical nature of memories associated with the discarded materials.
